Event registration and attendee platform

We rebuilt an event company’s attendee management system as one modern platform with branded registration for every event.

Sector: Events. Platforms: Web, Admin, Email. Client: kept confidential.

The challenge

The organiser ran registrations on an older Angular, Express and MySQL stack that had become hard to change and deploy. Every event needed its own registration experience, its own web address and dependable confirmation emails.

What we built

We replaced the legacy stack with a single Next.js application backed by PostgreSQL and Prisma. Each event now gets its own public registration page and subdomain, and custom domains can be attached to individual events.

Organisers manage attendees from a SaaS-style admin, confirmation emails go out through Amazon SES, and the whole platform ships as one container. We also built the product’s marketing website.

Key features

  • Registration pages and subdomains for every event
  • Custom domains for individual events
  • Attendee management in a SaaS-style admin
  • Transactional email through Amazon SES
  • Secure cookie-based sessions
  • Containerised deployment

Engineering notes

  • Moving from a three-part legacy stack to a single application made releases simpler and faster.
  • The data model moved to PostgreSQL with typed access through Prisma.
